Geoff's Review
This cinema is part of a prominently-placed, well-designed and quite new community complex which also includes a museum/events centre/library/i-Site, in the Far North town of Kaitaia. Such a central facility is much needed in town, which has suffered more than its fair share of deprivation. There had been no cinema in town since the Princess Theatre burnt down in 1990.
The Te Ahu Cinema, as part of the Little Theatre operation, is now provides 4-5 sessions a day of recent, mainly mainstream releases with reasonable ticket prices (children under 14 $8, students and seniors $11). A daily programme was offering in December 2020.
It is administered by the Te Ahu Charitable Trust and is well worth a visit.
