Geoff's Review
A mecca for Auckland film-goers, the Rialto has been sited smack-dab in the busy retail strip of Broadway, Newmarket for nearly 20 years. Renovated in 2006, it promotes itself as 'The Home of Fine Film', with some justification for it specialises in tailoring film programmes for special audiences. In May 2012, for example, it was offering Tea Party screenings, Met Opera seasons, the Resene Architecture and Design Film Festival , the Out Takes 2012 Reel Queer Film Festival, and around about 25 art house titles in its daily schedule. In all, it provides around a dozen special event festivals per year.

On the first visit, finding the right screen is a bit like finding your departure gate at the airport but return visits to this bustling and bright cinema (the foyer lighting is tremendous) are highly recommended.
Hosts a good slice of the annual NZ International Film Festival.

The adjacent food-hall offers excellent Thai and Japanese food, together with a Subway and Nandos outlet nearby.
