Geoff's Review
The Globe is now well-established since its opening in 2011, offering a full programme of art house films, in an attractive small venue. It is adjacent to the swanky Crown Hotel, in the seaside village of Ahuriri (Napier's equivalent of Oriental Bay or St. Heliers). It offers a friendly, intimate art house experience and is open for four daily sessions, Monday to Sunday. Features recent releases, in a space devoted to a satisfying cinema experience, accentuated by cafe-style food and drink, within a space inspired by the art-deco theme of Napier. Film books in the foyer are always a sign of a good cinema.
Features leather two-seaters in the front row and back row and they are pretty damn comfortable.
Interesting shops and cafes are nearby and you can wander across the road to Perfume Point Reserve and gaze upon the sea (but as with most Napier beaches, it is more shingle than sand).
